1. Mrs. Brown: What's wrong, Soomi? You're not eating at all.

Soomi: Well, sorry, but I don't  feel like eating now.

Mrs. Brown: What do you mean?

Soomi: The food here isn't to my taste at all.

I don't like this kind of food.

브라운 아줌마: 왜 그러니, 수미야? 너 음식을 전혀 안 먹는구나.

수미: 죄송해요, 별로 생각이 없어서요.

브라운 아줌마: 그게 무슨 말이니?

수미: 여기 음식이 입에 전혀 안 맞아요. 전 이런 음식을 별로 좋아하지 않거든요.

 

2. Soomi: I want kimchi. I can't live without it!

Mrs. Brown: That bad?

Soomi: No, kimchi's not bad. It's good!

Mrs. Brown: No, I meant you want kimchi that much?

Soomi: Yes, the world isn't the same without kimchi.

Mrs. Brown: Oh, well, we'll get you some kimchi at the Korean market tomorrow.

Soomi: You're an angel, Mrs. Brown. Thanks a million.

수미: 김치가 먹고 싶어요. 김치 없이는 못살겠어요!

브라운 아줌마: 그렇게 간절해?

수미: 아뇨, 김치는 나쁘지 않아요. 얼마나 좋은데요!

브라운 아줌마: 그게 아니고, 내 말은 김치를 그렇게까지 먹고 싶냐고.

수미: 네, 김치 없는 세상은 상상도 할 수 없어요.

브라운 아줌마: 그래, 그럼 내일 한국 시장에 들러서 김치 좀 사와야겠구나.

수미: 아줌마는 천사에요. 정말 감사합니다.

 

3. Susan: What's that? It's all red. It looks very hot.

Soomi: Yes, it is hot. Very hot actually. That's what makes it good.

Susan: You eat that? Doesn't your stomach go crazy?

Soomi: Not really. I'm used to eating this stuff. I love hot, spicy food.

Susan: Does it have a name?

Soomi: Yes, it's called Ddukbokki.

Susan: That's a weird name.

수잔: 그게 뭐에요? 완전 새빨간데요? 엄청 매워 보이는데.

수미: 그럼, 맵지. 아주 맵다고. 그래서 맛있는 거야.

수잔: 그걸 먹어요? 속이 완전 뒤집히지 않나요?

수미: 아니, 난 이런 거 잘 먹거든. 난 매운 음식을 너무너무 좋아해.

수잔: 이름이 뭐에요?

수미: 응, 떡볶이라고 해.

수잔: 이름도 이상하네.
